The Wine
Pale straw with green hints. The aromas are of white peach, citrus and delicate tropical fruits. The mouth filling palate is awash with flavors of fresh apple, nectarine, lime and tropical notes. The flavors are underlined by fine supporting acidity and a chalky texture that leads into a very long, rich and clean lime and passionfruit finish.
The Growing Region - Martinborough
(mahr-tin-bore-ooh)
Situated on the southern tip of the North Island, Martinborough is just across the straight from Marlborough. Martinborough is a town, as well as a region within Wairarapa, which, in turn, is located within the region of Wellington. Just to add more confusion, Wellington is also the name of the city there, the capital of New Zealand. Sometimes the names of these three regions are interchanged, but know that all three names mean the wine has come from the bottom tip of New Zealand's North Island.

Notable Facts:
The grape making the most splash from the area is Pinot Noir. It is the region's most planted variety and the one getting the most attention. However, being that it's the neighbor of Sauvignon Blanc land, Marlborough, it uses these climate similarities to produce delicious wines from that grape as well.
About New Zealand:
The country of New Zealand is about 1000 miles from the coast of Australia. It consists of two long islands, end to end, that are approximately the same length as California. Most of the country's climate is maritime due to the abundant coastline. The northern island is more wet and cool while the southern island is warmer and dryer. The most popular grapes of New Zealand are Sauvignon Blanc (made most famous by the bright wines coming out of Marlborough), Chardonnay and the ever-growing, Pinot Noir.

User Reviews & Ratings
"The storms that hit Marlborough in April 2008 headed off to sea, missing Martinborough. So winemaker Adrian Baker says there was no rain pressure during harvest at Craggy Range, where the 2008 ripened to rich passion fruit flavors. Baker allowed a thrid of the wine to ferment with indigenous yeast, and fermented a small portion in the barrel. The result is a potent, generous Sauvignon with lasting spice and saturated fruit flavor. Decant it for crab."
This would be a great one with seafood.
